What
it Means to be a Member
Now,
more than ever, amateur football is faced with its most serious challenges.
Political and economic forces have forced football programs at our high
schools and/or our alma maters to cut-back or even completely eliminate
football from their athletic programs. Particularly distressing is the
notion that a young athlete might be stripped of the opportunity to learn
and prosper from the game the same way many of us did. Amateur football
needs a mobilized and energized force committed to ensuring that all young
athletes have the chance to learn about teamwork, sportsmanship, competition,
victory, defeat, passion, and dedication by playing football...WE ARE THAT
FORCE.
In
communities all around the country, the youth of today are confronted with
opportunities and problems different from any generation this world has
ever known. Their avenue to success is, unfortunately, often times met
with two, three, or four major roadblocks along the way. The traditional
role that education and sports has played in shaping the lives of many
of us has and continues to change and evolve. No longer is there one solution
to meeting the needs of our young people. The challenges are greater now
and new roads must be paved. The National Football Foundation and its members
help to pave the way. Through educational programs like Play It Smart and
the "NFL/NFF Coaching Academy" and through the community involvement of
our members in chapters across the country, the NFF is making a difference.
Uniquely, we make our inroads with the youth through football. The field
is the classroom and the game is being taught but it is the lessons for
success in life that are being learned. Our youth need a mobilized and
energized force committed to ensuring that all young athletes have the
chance to learn and succeed by using teamwork, sportsmanship, competition,
victory, defeat, passion, and dedication by playing football...WE ARE THAT
FORCE.
Being
a member also means being a part of a cohesive group. Our members enjoy
the benefits of camaraderie, enthusiasm, and excitement from belonging

take place in many venues.
